HFitness Study 3: HFitness vs In-Person Rehabilitation in Men Following Prostatectomy

HFitness Study 3: HFitness vs In-Person Rehabilitation in Men Following Prostatectomy
Men using HFITNESS following prostate removal experience improvements in incontinence and quality of life that are similar to men undergoing in-person rehabilitation. These gains persisted through one-year follow-up, establishing HFITNESS as a viable alternative for pelvic floor rehabilitation post-prostatectomy.

Background

Urinary incontinence affects many men after prostatectomy. Despite evidence supporting in-person rehabilitation for this condition, significant barriers limit patient access. HFITNESS was developed to address this gap by delivering comprehensive pelvic floor rehabilitation through a digital platform.

Methods

Researchers compared outcomes between patients receiving in-person rehabilitation versus HFITNESS over a minimum 12-month period. Assessment occurred at multiple timepoints: 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months post-robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy. Standardized validated questionnaires (ICIQ-MLUTS and IIQ-7) measured outcomes, along with daily protective pad use and patient satisfaction metrics.

Results

The analysis involved 41 men. Improvement rates in incontinence were comparable across both groups throughout the 12-month follow-up (P = NS at all intervals). Among HFITNESS users, 75% (15/20) achieved complete stress incontinence resolution, compared to 60% (12/20) in the in-person group—a non-significant difference (P = .3). Protective pad consumption and quality-of-life measures remained similar across both interventions at all measured timepoints.
